Introducing Adriana Castro

Most of us grew up with dogs, cats or birds, didn’t we? I wonder any of you grew up with lions, tigers or Crocodiles?! Adriana Castro is the one who has such a unique experience! Castro is a beautiful sweetheart who was born in Colombia. Having spent most of her childhood with her father on his crocodile’s farm, Adriana was fascinated about being designing handbags and accessories with the exotic skins of these creatures. She knows crocodiles and she has the knowledge to “utilize and combine as much of the creature’s skin and textures as possible,” Adriana said.

After getting her Bachelor Degree from Purdue University, Castro continued her studies in Accessory Design at Miami International University and started her designer adventure. Castro’s designs were recognized by the public soon after her first collection, Amazonia, was launched. Her collection has been featured in WWD, Vive, Ocean Drive, Daily Candy, Vogue Latin America and many more. Last year, Castro won the Fresh Faces in Fashion award for Accessory Design from GenArt.

Adriana aims to make elegant crocodile bags and accessories that everyone can carry. She pays a lot of attention to quality control and always travels to Colombia, where the bags are made, to make sure every bag is in excellent condition. For the Fall collection, she will name each of her bag by a star of the constellation and will emphasize the use of metallic and night-sky deep blue. What will you do with $37500 Cash?

$37,500 is a lot of money. It might be the annual salary of some people; it allows you to buy a Lexus IS350 and you can also spend it on a Gucci “hysteria” medium top handle bag. This bag is in the same size, 17.3″ x 14.2″, as the other “hysteria” medium top handle bag that has two handles, removable shoulder strap and magnetic snap closure. What makes it different and so expensive? Good question! The Gucci bag is not made of leather nor suede, but in dark grape crocodile skin. I like the shape and the size of this gorgeous top handle bag, but if you ask me if it is worth $37500? I will tell you I don’t know. You be the judge! Discuss more at the community!

I know this Gucci bag is gorgeous and I love it too. I am wondering how many of you will spend $37500 on buying it?

Yesterday, I have mentioned about the New Year rule – Bag on Bags. Marc Jacobs may not have done a good job. How about Dolce & Gabbana? Dolce & Gabbana also adopted “Bag on Bags” idea on a few of their new limited edition bags. The new collection has a series of 11 limited edition bags. According to Dolce & Gabbana’s press release, these bags are made with exotic crocodile and python skins. Only 10 of each style will be produced and each bag will “have a hand-embroidered ‘Limited Edition’ fabric label” as well as an “exclusive creation number” on the inside of the bag.
